Republic of Corruption

Corruption has been one of the major problems of our country for centuries. It can be traced back during the Spanish era wherein our own colonizers itself practice corruption in many ways, some in government affairs and projects and most are from religious means from Spanish priest or prayle. For 333 years, we were exposed to that kind of obnoxious attitude which taught us to abuse minority and feel superior to ourselves while lavishing the money poor people had worked hard to earn.
We are now in the middle of advancement where our country encourages development and breakthroughs for the betterment of people. The undeniable influence of modernity became an imprint to our daily life which left nothing but history books to tell us of the ruins and traditions our colonizers had instilled us. Slowly, we are loosing our tight hold to our old cultures which were the product of hundred years of imprisonment and great oppression from different countries; however, corruption, still rigid and hard, had survived and remained as an unresolved problem reigning in our society and a bit of a remembrance from our colonizers.
Up until now, we see through our own eyes how corruption is solved with tolerance and no action. It seems like its pretty normal that a politician is corrupt, that a government leader is being paid for illegal means that a man must die to stand against corruption and that nobody survives when you’re against it. If you can’t beat them, then be one of them. That might be the reason why only a few stands for the right. I’m afraid if this continues, no progress could be seen and we will forever remain as a developing country. We will forever suffer the aftermath of lenience with corruption. However, it is never too late to move and put your plans into action. With strict implementation of anti-corruption campaign and should be powered by the government itself and the people as the watchers of justice, corruption may still be shattered into pieces. We, citizens should pay attention to the politicians who are not practicing the campaign. There should be no exceptions, no family, friends, or close relatives that will stop them from being charged with corruption. To this campaign, there is no blood and acquaintances involved. Everyone should be punished if failed to get rid of corruption. The implementation of the campaign should be fair and equal.
With the increasing number of population, the greater the demand of food and the higher risk of poverty, we should not let corruption get in our way again. By exterminating it, other branch out problems would be gone like poverty and scarcity of food. So let us be part for a bigger change.

It’s possible to die of a broken heart!

According to recent studies, it’s possible to die from heart failure after an intense emotional event! It’s called Stress Cardiomyopathy. It happens when emotional events such as death or divorce cause adrenaline levels in the body to rise to such high levels for days on end that the heart begins to die.
Stress hormones are so high that they begin to “stun” the heart into failure. The occurrence was often misdiagnosed as a heart attack. Researchers found that, even though symptoms are similar, they are slightly different conditions.
Because of the massive amounts of continuous adrenaline, or epinephrine, from emotional events the body can experience chest pain, fluid in the lungs, shortness of breath and even heart failure.(http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org)

Why You Look Different in Photos Than You Do in the Mirror?

Yesterday morning, you looked good. Yesterday evening, before you went out, you're pretty sure you looked real good. So who the hell is this schlub in the Facebook album from last night, tagged with your name?
It's a phenomenon nestled somewhere between universal annoyance and urban legend: People see something different in the mirror than they do in photographs. More often than not, the former is controlled, predictable and palatable, while the latter is an endless source of nasty little surprises.
So, why the disparity? The answer is complicated, but it boils down to this: Your eyes, your brain, your mirror and your camera are all conspiring to sabotage your body image.

It's the camera
The camera adds ten pounds! At a certain point, this obscure TV adage became folk wisdom. While this particular effect probably refers specifically to television, and in particular the distorting effect of the convex curvature of older TV sets, it seems to hold true for regular folks, sometimes in still pictures as well as video.
Cameras sensors may be absorbing the same photons as our eyes, but they're doing so through a complex lens that can actually change the way you look. Most cameras, from the dumpiest point-and-shoots to high-end DSLRs, ship with lenses capable of adjusting to wide, zoom-ed out perspective, and tight, zoomed-in views. At both extremes, the lens plays weird—and potentially ugli-fying tricks.
A wide angle lens does as its name suggests, capturing an image spread over a wide angle. The field of view in a wide-angle shot is wide—wider than that of your own eyes. In pulling this off, some lenses create a sort of fisheye effect, which can bloat subjects in the middle, and stretch those on the outside. This, however, is instantly recognizable, and probably won't cause too much anxiety. In other words, If the shot looks like a still from an episode of Jackass, you probably shouldn't let it figure into your self-image too much.
But there's a subtler effect of wide lenses called wide-angle distortion: Since the field of view is super-wide, objects close to the camera will seem large, while objects just a bit further away will seem very small. Here's a scene from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels that illustrates the effect, starting a 4:18. (NSFW, sorta.)
The net effect is an illusion of size, both width and height. Subtle, sure, but it's there.
Telephoto lenses are usually seen as more flattering, giving the impression that the subject is flattened, and slightly compressing the width of your foremost features, like your nose or breasts. So you might want to think twice before fleeing the pesky paparazzi and their fancy zoom lenses; it's the tourist with the pocket cam whose snaps will make you look fat on the Internet.
Lens distortion isn't the only way a camera can screw with your visage. Flash illuminates subjects harshly, turning elegant faces normally accented by soft shadows into a flat, shadowless, cadaveric horror shows.
Whether these effects are annoying or used to advantage, they mean that what you see in photos is different than what you see in the mirror.

It's the Mirror
I don't mean to imply that the camera is the only liar, here, because mirrors are just as guilty. For one, they flip your image. The You you're most familiar with, then, is actually an exact opposite of how you look to others. Granted, it's an intuitive reversal, so it doesn't bother us when we see it, but it implants a self-image that's intrinsically wrong.
On top of that, there's the problem of perspective. People stand close to mirrors, but see their whole selves. This provides a reasonable perspective, but a unique one: it's the perspective of a person standing near to you, eyes proportionately closer to your head than to your feet. This is the perspective of a partner in conversation, not a photographer. Looking a certain way from three feet away doesn't mean you'll look the same from 15.

It's you
The physics of lenses and mirrors offer solutions to specific problems, i.e. OH MY GOD SO THAT'S WHY MY WONDERFUL BUTT LOOKS SO FAT ON FILM! However, these explanations don't speak to a more relatable weirdness about photography. It's a feeling of uncanniness. It's a sense that something about the photographed self seems unquantifiably different than the mirrored self. It's in your head.
Think about the act of looking on a mirror. It's incredibly limited You pretty much need to be facing forward, or else you can't see. You will always be looking slightly down at the rest of your body. You will pose for yourself, to achieve the most flattering look. You will hide fat behind folds of clothes, or minimize a strange facial feature with a tilt of the head.
Other people, including photographers, don't see this version of you. They see a version that you are rarely privy to, and that can seem wildly foreign to our ingrained sensibilities. As Slate explains, it's a bit like how people hate their own voices on tape, doubly so because we know that those foreign, goofball intonations represent that way that everyone else hears us. In photos, we see ourselves in various states of motion, in different contortions and from uncaring, neutral perspectives. Lenses may distort, sure, but in a powerful way, these uncomfortable photographs are closer to reality than our carefully images in the mirror.  (J. Herrman, gizmodo.com)

RN Heals Batch 3: 13,000 Nurses, Midwives to be Deployed Next Month

The Department of Health (DOH) announced yesterday that 10,000 nurses and 3,000 midwives will be deployed next month to the various provinces in the Philippines to augment the inadequate nursing workforce in DOH hospitals and other health facilities of local government units.
According to the report, the government deployed the first batch of 10,000 nurses last year and another batch of 11,500 nurses and 1,000 midwives last November.
This year 2012, the recruitment of 10,000 nurses and 3,000 midwives is already ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
“The recruitment and selection shall be done by the respective Center for Health Development (CMDs) to be completed by February,” the DOH said.
Under the RN Heals 3 program, newly hired nurses and midwives shall undergo general orientation scheduled on the first week of March before the actual deployment.
Those who were previously hired under the same program and rendered satisfactory services until the end of their contract next week can re-apply. (Nursingcrib.com)

You are good enough just as you are.

During your life, you will encounter people who will try to convince you to be dissatisfied and unhappy with yourself.
These people will try to tell you your hair is wrong,
your weight is wrong,  your height is wrong,
your color is wrong, your diet is wrong,
your clothes are wrong,
your high school and college courses are wrong,
your religion is wrong, your job skills are wrong,
your job itself is wrong, your career choice is wrong,
your house is wrong, your kitchen is wrong,
your cooking is wrong,  you yourself are wrong.
The right thing to do is to observe yourself, and see for yourself the things that are right:
you were good to someone, you learned something new,
you taught yourself a skill, you completed another year of school,
you grew taller, you learned to drive a car,
you helped a neighbor, you repaired something,
you painted a room, you successfully cooked something new,
you straightened up the back yard, you served on a jury,
you volunteered,
and otherwise you progressed today — some of these things will not literally happen today, but they will happen, because you are good enough just as you are.
— Unknown
Wherever you are right now, and whatever you’re doing, stop for just a moment.
Take a second and tell yourself “I love you.” It doesn’t really matter how much you believe it right now, in time you will come to see the truth in it.
Then, allow yourself a short dance break and laugh as loud as you can.
Your body can’t tell the difference between when you pretend to laugh and when the laughter becomes real.
So laugh a lot. You’re body will thank you.
Take this short time for yourself. You deserve it. You’re alive and beautiful. Celebrate.
Everyone is beautiful. Don't let anyone make you feel ugly, and never make anyone else feel it.

Miracles!

Woman, 21, who was told she was infertile after battling cancer TWICE has 'miracle' baby
Madeleine battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma twice in 18 months
Has miracle baby with partner she met during chemotherapy

A young cancer victim told she was infertile after having more than 300 hours of chemotherapy is finally enjoying motherhood after the birth of her "miracle" baby.
Madeleine Telfer, 21, lost two-and-a-half stone in weight after battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma TWICE in 18 months.
She was devastated when doctors warned her that the constant chemotherapy had probably left her infertile and she would never have children.  But less than a year later she was stunned to discover she had fallen pregnant with partner Stephen Batey, 27, who she met during her treatment.
Madeleine Telfer with her partner Stephen Datey and her miracle baby boy Harris who was born on November 27, 2011
Now the couple are celebrating the birth of their "miracle" baby Harris, who is two months old.
Madeleine, who is now trying for her second child, said: 'All I ever wanted was a family. It's something I've dreamed of since I was a wee girl.
'And when the doctors told me I would be infertile I was distraught.
'Of course, losing your fertility is a small price to pay to save your life, but I was devastated.
'When I found out I was expecting Harris, I don't think I've ever been so happy.'
Three sisters take drastic step of having their breasts AND wombs removed to avoid hereditary cancer death sentence that killed their mother at just 32
In August 2008 Madeleine was a normal teenager studying child care when she began to feel ill.
Her glands swelled up and she lost two and a half stone in just a few weeks.
Her worried parents Robin, 52, and Careen, 49, took their daughter to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, Scotland, where a biopsy revealed she had cancer.

Madeleine, 21, never thought she would be able to have children
From January 2009 she underwent a four-hour chemotherapy session every two weeks for six months, notching up 48 hours of treatment.
Madeline said: 'I was in my bedroom when my mum came in. She sat down, very calm, very composed.
'She said I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I had cancer.
'I had a lurching feeling in my stomach. It didn't make sense, it didn't feel real. It was overwhelming.
'I was a very lively, bubbly person but during treatment I felt rotten for months. I had no energy but my family and friends were really supportive.'
The treatment made Madeleine so weak she caught pneumonia but despite her illness she was given to news that her treatment had been successful in August 2009 and her cancer had gone into remission.
Life returned to normal, Madeleine began to see friends and got a job in the clothing store TK Maxx.
But on January 12, 2010, Madeleine's world came crashing down for a second time when she received the news a routine CT scan had shown the cancer had returned.
She was rushed into 'salvage chemotherapy' and endured three gruelling 90 hour sessions in isolation - a further 270 hours.
It was during her recovery in the weeks following her treatment that Madeline met her partner        Stephen, a postman, while having a quiet drink with friends.
Madeleine, who lives in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, said: 'My friends wanted to take me out as a treat.
'I had been in isolation for a long time during my treatment so we went a drink in Kilmarnock and Stephen was there.
'I had a wig on because I lost my hair, I told him my story and it went from there.'
Following the treatment Madeleine was transferred to the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow to replace stem cells destroyed during her treatment.
Madeleine's brother Gary, now 24, and Carleen, 26, were tested and her sister proved a perfect match.
But just weeks before the operation Carleen fell pregnant and couldn't donate.
Madeleine Telfer during cancer treatment in March 2010, when she wore a wig
Madeleine added: 'I thought I was cursed. Nothing was going right.
'I was happy for my sister because she had been trying for a baby for a while, but I was devastated that it meant she couldn't donate.'
Madeleine was given the all clear at the beginning of May 2010.
She added: 'I was over the moon, I was just so happy.
'It also meant that stem cells that I had removed during my treatment, which we were saving, could be put back into me.'
Madeleine returned home and enjoyed Christmas with her family.
Her dreams came true in March last year when she found out she was pregnant, something she had given up hope on two years earlier.
Madeleine was over the moon and gave birth to baby Harris on November 27 last year after just a three hour labour.
She said: 'I couldn't believe it I did about five tests to make sure.
'Life is now just fantastic. I couldn't be happier. He is a little miracle.
'I have come through a lot and as a result I am a completely different person.
'We would love Harris to be joined by a wee brother or sister but I appreciate everything I have. Everything is wonderful.'

Does Pick Up Lines Ever Work?

It's probably happened to you. You're minding your own business, chatting with friends at a party, sipping a drink at the bar, or grabbing a coffee on your way to work. You see a certain male character breach the edge of your peripherals and begin to come toward you. Maybe you're open to a little flirt action, or maybe you're not. But it doesn't matter what you want, he's pouncing regardless. You probably begin to wonder, is he actually aiming for you? Maybe just the girl next to you. What is he going to say? And then it happens.
"Excuse me, miss, I have to ask. Did it hurt?"
Lord.
"When you fell from heaven, that is."
Yes, this guy just used a pick up line. A cheese-filled, corn-infused one at that. It makes you wonder, what would possess a man to bother with such ridiculous one-liners unless he were merely trying to get a laugh out of his bros? Who seriously thinks ice-breakers like these work?
According to dating expert Carlos Xuma, they don't work. But they don't not work, either.
It's what a man says after the opening line, tacky pick up or not, that is the clincher for most women, Xuma says. She's going to pay attention to his unplanned response to her reaction to see what he's really about. If he displays confidence, sincerity, and a decent level of sobriety, he's got a pretty good chance of at least keeping up the conversation through a drink or two. But if he continues on the path of cheese and corn or gets tongue-tied when he actually has to think on his feet, he can kiss his shot goodbye.
For some women, a stupid pick up line might actually work, as long as the guy makes it clear in his follow up that it was a joke and he's genuinely interested. A little laugh or eye roll might be just the thing to get a girl talking. For many women, however, a man who would even consider a degrading or laughable remark as a means of entering into conversation is simply pathetic.
So the safest bet, guys, is to nix the one-liners and go for honesty. A woman never turned down a genuine man (ok, that's not true).
Ladies, what do you think?

Green Intelligence

The main goal of green intelligence including strategies on market-based approaches is to provide safe and complete value of natural resources and harmonize environment to improve quality of lives while preventing the environmental impact of depletion and supporting the welfare communities.
Yes, market-based approaches could save the planet because current events regarding the environmental awareness face different political and economic issues and challenges today. This will be effective using an emerging generation of information systems to develop market pressures to upgrade the ecological performance of industry and commerce. In spite of the introduction of cleaner technologies in industry, energy production and transport, waste disposal remains a major health risk.
The people on market and trade should focus on issue regarding waste disposal or programs that support the integrated waste management.  Green intelligence advocates programs on pollution and waste management including several campaign and activities on the processes to treat waste products, management of hazardous waste landfill (sequestering, isolation, etc), incineration, neutralization, recycling, and destruction and waste-to-energy methods.
Green intelligence also investigates the environment generally and such premises necessary to ascertain the nature of pollution and waste products

3 Idiots: What I like About Them

Farhan, Rancho and Raju
“Remember, life is a race. If you don’t run fast, you’ll get trampled.”
—           3 Idiots

Ranchoddas Chanchad
Rancho had a full confidence of life amidst the arduous pressure of college life. With a carefree attitude, he never cared about how much life is pulling down on him, as long as he has the courage to stand up to Virus for himself, his friends, and Pia. He also has a passionate mindset about things. His wisdom on pursuing one's passion really hits everybody a lot. Sometimes, I ask myself how was Rancho able to top his class while maintaining a carefree attitude. Simple, he loved engineering so much that he was able to gain himself from it. He always helps a friend when it is needed.

Famous Lines
All is well.
These engineers are very smart sir, they didn't invent a machine which can measure the pressure on the brain. If they had, we would have come to know that this was not a suicide but a Murder.
[Rancho mimicking Virus]Life is a race.. If you don't run fast.. You will be like a broken anda (egg)..
[To Professor] Instruments that record analyse summarize organize debate and explain information which are illustrative non-illustrative hardbound paperback jacketed non-jacketed with forward introduction, table of contents, index that are intended for the enlightenment, understanding enrichment enhancement and education of the human brain through sensory root of vision... Sometimes touch
I never manage to plant the kiss dude... the nose comes in between.
I wasn't teaching you engineering, that you know better than me. I was teaching you how to teach.

Farhan Qureshi
Farhan, represents those who are being forced to choose what their parents wanted for them instead of pursuing what they're passionate about. His admiration for Rancho was his personal key to talk and stand up to his father and become a wildlife photographer. Out of greater love for his parents, Farhan was able to convince his parents to let him pursue his dream. He became a successful wild photographer authoring various photography books.
                                                                      Famous Lines
We learnt something about human behaviour that day, It feels bad when a friend fails, but it feels even worse when he comes first.
Rancho was right when he said "Pursue excellence, and success (Chateur) will follow, pants down!"
[narration] I've always been a law abiding citizen. But in the last 24 hours, I grounded an airplane, nearly flushed someone's remains down the toilet, and helped Pia escape her wedding. All for Rancho. He would've done the same for any of us, too, like stealing a copy of the final exam that was designed for Raju's failure.
“Today my respect for that idiot shot up. Most of us went to college just for a degree. No degree meant no plum job, no pretty wife, no credit card, no social status. But none of this mattered to him, he was in college for the joy of learning, he never cared if he was first or last.”

Raju Rastogi
Raju is the breadwinner of the Rastogi family, such that the whole family is counting on him to rescue them from their woes. As such, he had to struggle with the poverty his family had suffered, with a paralyzed dad, murmuring mom and an unwed sister. Because of huge fear to fail his family's expectation , Raju was not able to concentrate, resulted to low grades and poor academic performance. But with Rancho's help, he was able to overcome that fear, and became passionate in helping his family. He even had a prosperous life at the beginning of the film.
                                                                      Famous Lines
There's something going on between you both
Sir, I have learnt to stand up on my feet after having broken both my legs. This attitude has come after great difficulty. No sir, I can't. You may keep your job, and let me keep my attitude.
It’s kooky, it’s fun, it’s colorful. It’s Bollywood. 3 Idiots is a fantastic tale about the strength of friendship even when everyone starts new chapters in their lives. Like most Bollywood films, the duration is quite long and stories that stretch can seem quite redundant and fall victim to wandering aimlessly. 3 Idiots surprisingly isn’t that. This movie is packed with emotional sensibility both high and low, and don’t forget the music! With such energetic spirit that embodies Indian culture and musical identity, the songs are almost unforgettable. You’ll find yourself humming the beat even after you watch the movie. The plot is quite strong for a film that dons a comedic genre, something rare these days. (tumblr.com)

Ok. So back to the ten lessons we can learn from 3 Idiots.
  1. To be born poor or as an average person is not a crime but to die as an average person with middle class talent is miserable and if you are unable to optimize your potentiality and die with unused potentiality then that is your shameful truth.
  2. One should not die as a mediocre. He/she has to bring out genius inside him/her and has to use his/her potentiality to the optimum level.
  3. Simplicity is way of life and Indian culture highly stresses on simple living and high thinking, and this is the way of life: ‘Legs down to earth and eyes looking beyond the sky’
  4. Necessity is mother of invention. Necessity creates pressure and forces you to invent something or to make it happen or to use your potentiality.
  5. When your hobby becomes your profession, the passion becomes your profession. You will be able to lead up to excellence in life. Satisfaction, Joy, Pleasure & love will be the outcome of the passion.
  6.  Freedom to life is beautiful. Don't die before the actual death. Live every moment to the fullest as if today is the last day. Life is gifted to human kind to live.
  7.  Never try to be successful, pursue excellence.  Success is the by product & the result. Excellence always creates Success & it is a process of continual improvement.
  8. Never run after success. Let it happen automatically in Life
  9. This one’s important. Live and live happily towards happiness.
  10. Learning is very simple. Never Stop.

Personalities of the main characters are somewhat similar to these 3 real life idiots;) pictured below (shernan-raju, errol-rancho, archivald-farhan)
