Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro

An age old tradition in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro every Holy Week

This tradition happens every Good Friday. It is a religious holiday observed primarily by Christians commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is also known as Black Friday, Holy Friday, Great Friday or Easter Friday (referred as Friday in Easter week).

A yearly tradition in our town during holy week. They do this — whip their own backs — as a way to empathize with Jesus. I didn’t get a photo, but some of them carried large wooden crosses, just as Jesus did.

Whenever you think you're worthless, always remember that Jesus died for you. You don’t need to make yourself suffer. All you need is a sincere heart and you’ll be forgiven. Spread the love, spread the Gospel. :)

Swimming at San Antonio- Bukana Beach

San Antonio-Bukana Beach is quiet and peaceful place but you can enjoy lots of activities where you will keep and never forget in the rest of your life.  This beautiful place is located in a very town but rich town of Mansalay, South of Oriental Mindoro. The town is rich in natural resources and having beautiful white beaches, seascapes, coral-reefs, waterfalls, caves and many more. We all know that Mansalay is a remote area but did you know that there are many also elegant beach resorts and penthouses built in the area (Brgy. Cabalwa & Manaul)? They can accommodate you while enjoying your stay in Mansalay.

Mansalay Eco-Park

Mansalay EcoPark (Located right by National Highway in Mansalay, a 3rd class municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines) welcomes you whether you come alone; bring the whole family, or group socialization. You have the pleasure of mountain climbing, picnics and group bonding whether it is nature tripping using spinning wheels or learn the noble art of walking/jogging for those who want more of a challenge.

A true haven for outdoorsy and nature-loving people, the area has a wide variety of physical activities to choose from. The park opens all day. It is best to go in the morning as you will get to see the beauty of the sunrise and people doing their early morning rituals from exercising, jogging, to just being one with nature.

Whatever it is that you would like to do here, this place surely champions its cause of ecotourism and environmental preservation by immersing frequent visitors like me in the beauty of nature and the right means to enjoy it. I applaud the Mansalay local government for developing the place and initiating this project.
